Following the request from Factoría Cultural to expand their action and influence to other areas of Seville in their cultural mediation work, we came up with a meeting and exchange day where music would be the vehicle to promote social inclusion, work on values and celebrate the cultural diversity that characterizes this area of Seville, where people from different backgrounds live. A job that we have been developing in the neighborhood through work done in close collaboration with San Jose Worker Primary School and other associations such as Sevilla Acoge Foundation.

Activities

On Sunday, April 24th, 2022, despite some concern about the rain, at 12:00 pm, the festival began in Isla Canela Beach Plaza. The activities scheduled for the day were DJ sessions + Open Decks, an open floor musical session, a photo booth, and the MOPA Danza improvisation workshop 'Error Young Vibes'. Several installations were also set up, such as the interactive installation "Olivo sonoro" with musical fragments from the neighborhood, or the exhibition "Historias de Sanjomix", which gathered the work done by students from CEIP San José Obrero. The day was accompanied by a menu that collected flavors from international cuisines of the neighborhood.

Sesiones DJ + Open Decks

RAWA club + Sanjomix Soundsystem

Electronic music was provided by RAWA Club, habitual collaborators of Talleres Antropoloops workshops, a collective founded in 2019 by DJ Hidrataccioni (Mexico) and Guacha Sabelo (Uruguay), with the goal of introducing the most avant-garde sounds of Latin American electronic music to the Seville music scene. Alongside RAWA, Bárbara, Lilia, and the rest of the girls from Sanjomix Soundsystem, they spun the tracks they had made in the Banda Sanjomix project.

Eloisa Cantón, Fran Torres and Rubén Alonso

Open musical floor

A collective remix session where attendees could remix their songs live on an interactive dance floor with Eloisa, using their body and movement to create music. The idea was to improvise freely through play and movement, with loops created by Fran and Rubén in real-time based on the public's requests as they took turns performing on stage.

Error Young Vibes

Error is a guided improvisation project. The activity consisted of a brief workshop where participants learned the code that served as a conductor, and on this occasion, we also remixed popular dances. Juan Luis Matilla is a choreographer, dancer, and musician with an extensive artistic career in performing arts, collaborating with us on the movement and body aspect.

Tasting

To take the remix to the table, we invited Refrito MC (master chef) to create a tasting menu of dishes from the neighborhood, asking restaurants and cooks from Cerezo to provide representative dishes from collectives living in the barrio. This resulted in a menu that we could enjoy throughout the day.

Kofi de Costa de Marfíl's cook offered Poulet DG, "El Arepazo" Venezuelan restaurant offered Arepa Dominó, Rocio Luque -cook from the neighborhood- prepared spinach with chickpeas, a classic Sevillian dish, Ji Yiang (aka Pepe) made a 3 Delights rice dish, and Jadiya, a Moroccan cook who has been in the barrio for over 30 years, prepared delicious Kefta. There was no siesta.

Victoria Brause

Neighborhood portraits

The attending public could approach to take photos in the neighborhood's photo booth, and we also got to enjoy the "Alborescencia" exhibition, a photographic project by Victoria centered around the students of the 'Banda barrio' project.
