The mobilizations against the closure of the blast furnaces in the early 1980s in the Port of Sagunto are remembered as a moment of collective awareness and action. An intense shared experience as a people at a time when the way of life that had structured the factory town in the twentieth century was coming to an end.

The workshop carried out has reviewed this historical moment with the students from a creative approach, as an exercise of musical history-fiction:

If in the factory town of Puerto de Sagunto a musical style of its own had been generated, in a way equivalent to how in Detroit motown or techno emerged....

what would that musical style be like?

what music could have been played in the mobilizations of the 80's?

Exhibition

For the commemorative day of the 40th anniversary of the industrial reconversion, we have designed and set up an exhibition with the results of the workshop in the old blast furnace spare parts warehouse. The exhibition has occupied the old shelves, placing on them metal objects selected from the ship's archive, which functioned as activators for listening to the musical pieces composed by the students.
